Syftet med denna kvalitativa intervjustudie är att bidra med kunskap om hur lärare stödjer elevers förståelse av innehållet i faktatexter i årskurs 2. Därför har data i form av fyra lärarintervjuer analyserats med utgångspunkt i den sociokulturella teorin. Studien är även inspirerad av den kvalitativa forskningsansatsen fenomenografi. Studiens resultat visar att lärarna aktivt arbetar med faktatexter från årkurs 1. Tidigare forskning belyser att det är viktigt att undervisning av faktatexter inleds tidigt. Detta för att elever ska få möjlighet att lära sig att nyttja faktatexter och få förståelse för innehållet. Lärarna upplever att eleverna är motiverade samt nyfikna på att läsa faktatexter. Däremot är uppfattningen att begreppsförståelsen är det som kan vara svårt i undervisningen, då ord och begrepp kan hämma elevernas förståelse av textens innehåll. Lärarna belyser vikten av samtal och diskussion, om både textens begrepp och innehåll, för att ge eleverna möjligheten att förstå innehållet.

The purpose of this qualitative interview study is to contribute with knowledge about how teachers support students' understanding of the content of factual texts in year 2. Therefore, data in form of four teacher interviews were analysed, based on sociocultural theory. The study is also inspired by the qualitative research approach phenomenography. The study´s result shows that teachers are actively working with factual texts from grade 1. Previous research illuminates the importance of starting to teach about factual texts early. This, to give students the opportunity to learn how to use factual texts and to understand the content. The teachers experience that the students are motivated to read factual texts and are curious about them. The teacher's conception, however, is that the conceptual understanding can be difficult for students, since words and concepts can inhibit the students' understanding of the texts' content. The teachers then describe that conversation and discussion, about both concept and content of the text, as important to give the students the opportunity to understand the content.
