Abstract [sv]

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur SO-lärare implementerar demokrati- och värdegrundsarbete i undervisningen inom de samhällsorienterande ämnena. Detta har gjorts med hjälp av kvalitativ metod där fyra lärare har deltagit i semistrukturerade intervjuer. Studien riktar sig mot hur lärare arbetar med demokrati och värdegrund i de olika SO-ämnena. Vid analysen av intervjuerna har hermeneutikens spiral varit i utgångspunkt och åtanke för att skapa en god tolkning kring lärarnas svar på intervjufrågorna. Studien har vilat på teorierna läroplansteori, deliberativ demokratiteori och den deltagande demokratiteorin. Resultatet har utgått från forskningsfrågorna. Studiens resultat visar att lärarna finner demokrati och värdegrund som en nödvändig del av elevernas skolgång. Respondenternas arbetssätt skiljer sig åt när de fostrar eleverna till goda samhällsmedborgare.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to investigate how teachers in the social orientated subjects implement democracy- and social value-based work in the social orientated subjects. This has been done by using a qualitative method where four teachers have been able to take part in semi- structured interviews. The main focus on the study is how teachers work with democracy and values in the social orientated subjects. In the analysis of the interviews, the spiral of hermeneutics has been a central point and a thought for creating a good understanding of the teachers answers to the interview questions.  The study has been based on the theory’s curriculum theory, deliberative democracy theory and participatory democracy theory. The result has been based on the research questions. Compilation of the results is that the teachers find democracy and values as a necessary part of the students schooling. The respondents working methods differ when they educate the students to be good citizens.
