Bakgrund: Ett stort antal individer är i behov av palliativ vård globalt, ca 56, 8 miljoner men endast 14% erhåller palliativ vård. Sjuksköterskan har en viktig roll och ansvarar för att ge palliativ omvårdnad i hemmet. Sjuksköterskor fokuserar på att lindra lidandet och etablera en god vårdrelation för att möta individens alla dimensioner. Syfte: Var att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av palliativ vård inom hemsjukvården. Metod: En litteraturöversikt baserat på 12 vetenskapliga artiklar med kvalitativ design har analyserats enligt Fribergs femstegs analysmetod. Artiklarna är hämtade från databaserna CINAHL och MEDLINE. Resultat: I resultatet framkom känslor av att känna otillräcklighet, vikten av vårdrelation, existentiella utmaningar, avsaknad av stöd samt yttre resurser som påverkar. Två teman identifierades: Sjuksköterskan och patienten och Utmaningar inom det dagliga arbetet, med tre subteman för varje tema. Slutsats: Starka vårdrelationer mellan sjuksköterskan och patienter är av stor vikt, särskilt inom palliativ vård. Helhetsperspektivet och vårdrelationen understryks som fundamental och skapar förutsättningar för god omvårdnad. När patientens mående hastigt förändras och nya beslut behövs, uppstår en osäkerhet hos sjuksköterskan. Sjuksköterskor ställs inför olika etiska utmaningar i det nära arbetet med patienter med palliativ vård. Att känna sig otillräcklig förekommer i det dagliga arbetet. Att bejaka patientens olika dimensioner är utmanande men en stark vårdrelationen underlättar för sjuksköterskan.

Background: A large number of individuals are in need of palliative care globally. 56.8 million people are in need, only 14% actually receive palliative care. Nurses has an important role, and they are responsible for providing good palliative care within the home. Nurses focus on alleviating suffering and establishing a caring relationship to meet all dimensions of the individual. Aim: To describe nurses' experiences of palliative care in home care. Method: A literature review based on 12 scientific articles with qualitative design has been analyzed according to Friberg's five-step analysis method. The articles are taken from the databases CINAHL and MEDLINE.Results: The results revealed feelings of inadequacy, the importance of a caring relationship, existential challenges, lack of support and difficulties in external resources. Two themes were identified: The nurse and the patient and Challenges in the daily work, with three subthemes for each theme. Conclusion: Strong relationships between the nurse and the patients are of great importance, especially in care at the end-of-life. The comprehensive perspective and the relationship are emphasized as fundamental and create favourable circumstances for good nursing. When the well-being of the patient rapidly changes, and new decisions are required uncertainty arises within the nurse. Nurses face different ethical challenges in the close work with patients within the palliative care. Feeling inadequate is a common occurrence on daily basis. Embracing the various dimensions of the patient is challenging but a strong relationship facilitates the nurse´s task.
