Bakgrund: Rättspsykiatrin i Sverige är en specialiserad gren av psykiatrin inom rättsväsendet som behandlar personer med allvarliga psykiska störningar och kriminell bakgrund. Arbetsterapeuter spelar en viktig roll genom att stödja och rehabilitera dessa män, bedöma förmågor och erbjuda hjälp för både fysiska och psykiska behov.

Syfte: att beskriva hur arbetsterapi kan användas inom rättspsykiatrin.

Metod: Studien hade scoping review som studiedesign. 10 artiklar har inkluderats i studien och hittades i databaserna CINAHL, PsycInfo, Medline och Amed.

Resultat: Samtliga studier visar att MOHO-modellen har använts som ett verktyg inom arbetsterapin genom att skapa meningsfulla aktiviteter som ska förbättra klienternas delaktighet och minska risken för återfall, våldsamt beteende och bidrar till ökad livskvalitet.

Slutsats: Studien framhäver den utmanande naturen hos rättspsykiatrisk vård och vikten av arbetsterapeuters roll i att hantera och förebygga återfall genom meningsfulla aktiviteter.

Background: Forensic psychiatry in Sweden is a specialized part of psychiatry within the judicial system. People with severe mental disorders and a history of criminal behavior are treated there. Occupational therapists have an important role by supporting and rehabilitating these people, assessing their capabilities, and offering assistance for physical and mental needs.

Aim: To describe how occupational therapy can be used in forensic psychiatry.

Method: The study employed a scoping review design. Ten articles were included in the study and were identified through databases such as CINAHL, PsycInfo, Medline, and Amed.

Results: The articles show that the MOHO model has been used as a tool in occupational therapy by creating meaningful activities to enhance the clients’ participation and reduce the risks of relapse, violent behavior thereby contributing to improve quality of life.

Conclusion: Occupational therapy plays a central role in forensic psychiatric care. The use of the MOHO model is highlighted as contributing to meaningful activities and increased quality of life. The study emphasizes the challenging nature of forensic psychiatric care and the importance of occupational therapists in managing and preventing relapses through meaningful activities.
