Attitudes towards AI (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Background: In today’s globalized and rapidly changing world, the technology of the fourth revolution, Artificial intelligence (AI), has emerged and is becoming increasingly prominent. The fast-paced development of AI required organizations to be flexible and adaptable to keep up with the advancements and maintain their competitiveness in the job market. Attitudes towards AI impact organizations and places demands on the HR-functions. However, there is a lack of in- depth perspective on the attitudes towards AI and how these attitudes affect the HR-functions work.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe employees’ attitudes towards Artificial intelligence (AI) in an organization and thereby identify how these attitudes affect the HR-functions work.

Method: The study adopts an inductive approach, utilizing a qualitative research strategy with a case study as the research design. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, and the empirical data was then analyzed using thematic analysis. The thematic analysis resulted in three main themes: positive attitudes towards AI, negative attitudes towards AI, and HR & AI: influencing factors. Each main theme was anchored in relevant theory. The results are presented in a final model.

Conclusion: Employees' attitudes towards AI are mixed, with both positive and negative perspectives. The HR function's work is influenced by these attitudes and plays a crucial role in transforming the negative attitudes, where skill development can address the prevailing lack of knowledge.
