Introduction – The aim of the study is to investigate the attitude towards climatedeclaration in the construction sector in Sweden. The goal is to research the attitudetowards adapt to climate declaration among industry stakeholders. Furthermore, thegoal of the study is to examine the challenges in the implementation of climatedeclaration and how to overcome the challenges.

Method –The study consists of a quantitative analysis through web-based surveysperformed by people within the construction and real estate industry. Furthermore, aqualitative analysis based on semi-structures interviews with individuals who workswith climate-declarations.

Results – The results indicate a positive attitude towards the legislation of climatedeclarations and that the legislation plays an important role towards becoming moreenvironmentally friendly. The challenges associated with climate declarations can beresolved with a more elaborated legislation with clearly identified thresholds.

Analysis – The results from the respondents´ answers indicate that climatedeclarations are in the developmental stage and that the challenges lies inimplementing an understanding of the reason behind the legislation and how toimplement them to further adapt to future thresholds.

Discussion –The study indicates that the general attitude towards climate declarationis positive but is in the developmental stage. There are differences in results from therespondents depending on profession and age ranges. The solution to the challengesarising with the implementation of the climate declaration lies in understanding itspurpose among more distinct directives with thresholds.
