The Regions’ strategic work with Agenda 2030 from an Ageing perspective (English)
Abstract [sv]
Abstract [en]
The study investigated how regions in Sweden are working with Agenda 2030 with a focus on an Ageing population. The purpose is to describe the regions’ strategic work with the global development goals and identify potential development opportunities. A qualitative method was used, and interviews were conducted with regional officials, allowing for a deeper understanding of current strategies and their implementation.
The study identifies four themes: anchoring, collaboration, follow-up and health. It emphasises that strong anchoring in both political leadership and among officials is crucial for successful long-term work. Collaboration within the organisation and with others in the region is central, but there are often no specific strategies to integrate an Ageing perspective into the work. The follow-up is regular but needs more focused sub-goals to effectively support the Ageing population. Health is promoted through preventive measures, such as fall prevention and the pursuit of equal care.
The conclusion indicates that although there is a willingness and basic strategies for Agenda 2030, more detailed action plans focused on older adults is required. To improve the work, clearer national guidelines are recommended, which would facilitate a more uniform and effective strategy for healthy ageing.
