They bridge the gap between high-level strategic objectives and day-to-day operational activities, ensuring that digital projects are effectively implemented and in line with the organization's goals. Their roles include advocating innovation, analyzing information, encouraging change, and implementing strategies. Purpose: This thesis aims to explore the strategic and decision-making roles of middle managers in the context of digital transformation. It aims to better understand how middle managers view and negotiate the hurdles and opportunities given by digital innovations, as well as how they contribute to the overall success of initiatives to transform digitally in their businesses. Method: The study employs a qualitative approach, using a single case study to get insights into how middle managers perceive and negotiate the obstacles and possibilities given by digital transformation. Semi-structured interviews will be performed with middle managers from the IT department, allowing for a thorough examination of their strategic decision-making processes and adaptation strategies. Conclusion: The study concludes that middle manager’s strategic and decision- making responsibilities are greatly impacted by digital transformation. The findings underline the requirement of middle managers to adapt to new digital methods and instruments to stay effective in their professions. Furthermore, Middle managers are pivotal in bridging strategic objectives with day-to-day operations, ensuring that digital projects align with organizational goals. Through their involvement in innovation, decision-making, and resource management, middle managers are instrumental in facilitating the successful adoption of new technologies and processes, which are essential for achieving a digitally transformed organization.
