Owing to their rapid evolution, mobile apps require frequent updates meant to maintain functionality, enhance user experience, and guarantee security. This research investigates the effect of app update frequency on user satisfaction, with a specific focus on hedonic (entertainment-oriented) applications. Applying Expectancy Disconfirmation Theory as theoretical framework, the study examines how different intervals between updates affect users' perceptions, satisfaction, and privacy concerns. The study employs mixed methods using surveys and interviews with regular app users to offer actionable insights for developers, aiming to optimize update strategies by balancing frequency and user satisfaction. In conclusion, this research helps in understanding better user expectations guiding the development of user-centered update practices in the mobile app industry.
