Inclusive education and teachers' perceptions of inclusive education is a relatively widely researched topic. In Sweden, research is focused on government-owned institutions. Private or independent schools make up a significant, yet little-studied element of the Swedish education system. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and experiences of the teaching staff regarding inclusive education in a Swedish independent English-speaking school. Members of the teaching staff working at the school were interviewed and the results were analysed. The analysis of the interviews resulted in 3 main themes: Teaching staff’s perceptions of inclusive education; Challenges and limitations experienced by the teaching faculty; and Advantages and benefits of inclusive education. The results were presented and discussed with previous literature and The Ecosystem of Support for Inclusive Education model. The results showed that the teachers had a positive perception towards inclusive education and stated various advantages of it. However, many areas needing improvement were highlighted such as professional development, and human and material resources. The results obtained during the present study are similar to the results obtained in the government-founded schools, underlining that it is necessary to think about inclusive education as a complex system.
