Abstract [en]

Purpose -- This study investigates the inefficiencies in warehouse outbound logistics,

focusing on how lean tools and strategic planning can improve efficiency. Identifying

the main issues in the loading process and ways to make the operations more sustainable

and more effective.

Method -- The study has chosen a major electronics retailer central warehouse in the

Nordic region as a case study. The required data for this research will be collected

using qualitative methods like interviews, observations, and document analysis. Lean

tools were used to identify inefficiencies and analyze the process to answer the paper's

research questions.

Findings -- The study found warehouse inefficiencies such as truck conditions,

packaging, and communications, would be improved by implementing Lean tools such

as 8 wastes, 5S, and Standard Operating Procedures. Better strategic planning has shown

potential improvement for last-minute orders and quality checks.

Implications -- The study has presented some solutions regarding the inefficiencies

that would help the warehouse improve planning for variation of truck conditions

and packaging issues, and enhance collaboration. The study outcome would help improve

productivity and the efficiency of the operation.

Limitations -- The study was conducted in one case company with a major warehouse

which would require more data collection especially quantitative that would add more

accuracy of the inefficiencies. The inefficiencies and recommendations given in the

study might not apply to a similar-sized enterprise.
