Bakgrund: Hospicevård fokuserar på att förbättra livskvaliteten för patienter med livsbegränsade sjukdomar och lindra lidande. Vården strävar efter samarbete mellan sjuksköterskan och patienten för att möta deras psykiska, fysiska, andliga och sociala behov. Personcentrerad vård fokuserar på att anpassa vården efter individuella behov samt att främja delaktighet i beslutsfattande. Det är även viktigt att stärka sjuksköterskors tillfredsställelse och arbetsglädje inom hospicevården. Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturöversikt är att undersöka sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter i livets slutskede inom hospicevård. Metod: En litteraturöversikt utfördes baserad på 12 artiklar med kvalitativ design, som analyserades med hjälp av Fribergs (2022) femstegsanalys. Resultat: Analysen resulterade i två huvudteman; Att främja patienters värdighet (Kommunikationens avgörande roll, Att balansera mellan patientens och anhörigas önskemål och Att tillgodose patientens essentiella behov) samt Mellan lidande och helande hos sjuksköterskor (Personlig utveckling genom vårdande och Hantering av känslor). Slutsats: Denna litteraturöversikt uppger behovet av vidare forskning kring att ge vård till patienter i livets slutskede inom hospicevård, som ställer sjuksköterskor inför emotionella, etiska och praktiska utmaningar. Effektiva copingstrategier är avgörande för att säkerställa medkännande vård och upprätthållandet av välbefinnandet. För att upprätthålla hög kvalitet inom hospicevården är det av stor vikt att sjuksköterskor får tillgång till adekvata resurser som kontinuerlig utbildning och kollegialt stöd. 

Background: Hospice care focuses on improving the quality-of-life patients with life-limiting illnesses and alleviating suffering. The care strives for a collaboration between the nurse and the patient to adress their psychological, physical, spiritual and social needs. Person-centred care focuses on adapting care to individual needs and promoting participation in decision-making. It is also important to strengthen nurses’ satisfaction and work satisfaction in hospice care. Aim: The aim of this literature review is to examine nurses’ experiences of caring for patients at the end of life within hospice care. Method: A literature review was conducted based on 12 articles with a qualitative design, which were analyzed using Friberg’s (2022) five-step analysis. Results: The analysis resulted in two main themes: To promote patients’ dignity (The crucial role of communication, To balance between the patient’s and relatives’ wishes and To meet the patient’s essential needs) and Between suffering and healing among nurses (Personal development through care and Managing emotions).Conclusion: This literature review highlights the need for further research on providing care to patients at the end of life care in hospice care, which presents nurses emotional, ethical and practical challenges. Effective coping strategies are essential to ensure compassion care and to maintain well-being. To uphold high quality in hospice care, it is of great importance that nurses have access to adequate resources such as continuous training and collegial support.
