Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Existential threat is a concept that is increasingly mentioned in connection with the media’s reporting of the war in Ukraine, the Israel and Hamas issue, and the ongoing climate crisis. We also hear the term mentioned in connection with AI research’s possible development of a superintelligence of the more threatening kind. For these reasons, it is necessary to take a closer look at how this concept can be understood from different contexts. That being said, the purpose of this article has been to introduce and investigate the concept of existential threat. To my knowledge, no definition of the concept of existential threat has been presented in a Swedish context.
