This thesis explores the question What are the key challenges organizations face when designing and implementinginformation classification tailored to their specific needs?Through semi-structured interviews with professionals from five Swedish sectors, the study identifies bothshared and sector-specific challenges. Common themes include balancing granularity and usability, adapting tolegacy systems, and ensuring user engagement. Sectoral differences reveal that financial institutions emphasizecompliance, while industrial and public sectors prioritize operational flexibility.The thesis concludes that while standards like ISO/IEC 27001 provide a foundation, effective classificationdepends on organizational context, culture, and continuous adaptation.
