Inclusive religious education? : A survey on students' sense of inclusion in religious education education at upper secondary school. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Resultatet synliggör i

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to investigate through a survey whether high school students

experience religious education as inclusive. The understanding of the concept of inclusion

was based on three central dimensions: social, democratic and pedagogical participation. In

order to understand how the students perceive the teaching of religious studies as inclusive,

three of the research questions were based on these aspects. The fourth survey maps whether there are any clear differences between students' sense of inclusion in relation to

religious affiliation, upper secondary school programmes and gender. Vygotsky's

understanding of social constructivism has been applied to the result because learning

theory deepens the understanding of the students' experiences. The results have been

analyzed at different levels. Univariate and bivariate analysis have been applied. This is so

that it would also be possible to investigate whether there are correlations between

different variables. The results highlight a positive feeling during the religious studies

lessons and the students highlight working methods, participation and teaching level as

important factors for a high degree of inclusion.
