CSR as employer branding-strategy : A qualitative study that describes how CSR is integrated as an employer branding-strategy in the public- respective private sector (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Background and purpose:

The growing competition for competencies between private and public sector has had employer branding become a crucial factor for attracting and retaining relevant competencies within the organization. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an aspect that is essential for current and potential employees, which creates the need for organizations to integrate the three dimensions of CSR as a part of their employer branding-strategies. The purpose of this study is therefore to describe how organizations in the public and private sector integrate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into their employer branding-strategies.

Method:

A qualitative method with a deductive research approach was applied to answer the study`s purpose and research questions. Furthermore, a comparative research design was applied consisting of six semi-structured interviews. Three of the interviews consisted of participants from the private sector, and three from the public sector during data collection.

Analysis:

To analyze the collected empirical data, a thematic analysis was applied where expressions from the participants formed the basis for the study`s conclusion. The theoretical framework and previous research were then used to analyze the empirical data.

Conclusion:

The insights from the analysis of the empirical data created answers to the study`s purpose and research questions. The study`s conclusion resulted in similarities and differences between the sectors approaches to integrate CSR into their employer branding-strategies.
