Abstract [en]
Background: Digital Product Passports (DPPs) are highlighted as a key instrument for enabling a circular economy, yet cybersecurity aspects are still treated fragmentarily in existing research. To address this gap, the following research questions were formulated: RQ1. Which cybersecurity needs or risks are identified or impliedin proposed DPP implementations? RQ2. Which technical strategies and mechanisms are employed to address these threats? Method: Five databases (ACM Digital Library, IEEE Xplore, Springer Link, ArXiv och Web of Science) were searched. A structured, robust and transparent selection process was conducted using a systematic literature review (SLR) and the PRISMA framework. Findings: The analysis identified three main themes, Storage, Authenticity and Data Exchange, and nine subthemes. Storage covers solutions such as blockchain and centralized or decentralized databases. Authenticity concerns identification techniques that enable access control, confidentiality and integrity. Data Exchange focuses on the secure transmission of data supported by various framework and protocols.Value: The study reveals a gap in the current research landscape regarding cybersecurity implementations and awareness in the DPP context. It provides researchers with a clear overview of current technological DPP proposals and their associated cybersecurity properties, as well as highlight areas that may require further research.
