Digitalised deviation management (English)
Abstract [en]

 This thesis was carried out at Jönköping University of Technology and investigates the impact of digital tools on streamlining deviation management and improvement work in the manufacturing industry. The study was carried out in collaboration with the company Boards on Fire, which develops software for digital daily management with a focus on user-friendliness. The aim is to understand how digital tools affect work processes and the identification and resolution of deviations. The intention is also to analyze how the corporate culture around transparency and responsibility is affected by digitalization tools. Three companies have participated in the report's case study. Two of the companies currently use Boards on Fire's software to varying degrees and the third company acts as a reference point without the system but with other digital tools. The data collection consists of a literature study, interviews, surveys and observations. The work is based on questions designed to investigate how employees experience digital tools, how digitalization can streamline deviation processes and how corporate culture is affected by digital aids. The results show that digital tools such as Boards on Fire can improve traceability, reduce deviation management lead times and facilitate information dissemination. Employees report increased engagement, better insight into the organization's decisions and plans and a clearer structure for actions. Challenges identified during the study include the risk of overuse of simple solutions that do not address the root cause of the deviation. Observations and survey responses also show the importance of committed management and an actively positive corporate culture in order to succeed with a digital transformation. The work shows that digitalization is a highly valued resource in improvement work, but it requires thoughtful implementation and adaptation to the needs within the organization. Culture and communication are central factors in achieving sustainable and long-term improvements. Finally, the report provides recommendations on how companies can work further to develop their processes and utilize digital tools for sustainable working methods in deviation management and daily management.
